Wuxilife
Geo Race Information
The
2010 Wuxilife Geo Race is fun competition based on the concept of
Geo-caching where GPS coordinates are used to locate a destination.
Where the Wuxilife Geo Race differs from Geo-caching is that the goal
of Geo-caching is to find one hidden item, but the Wuxilife Geo Race
coordinates will lead the teams to a series of checkpoints, and
finally to the finish line.
The
Wuxilife Geo Race will take participants to different locations in
Wuxi of some significance; this is a great way to experience and
explore the city we live in while having a friendly competition.
The
starting point for the race will be Havana Café in downtown Wuxi,
across from Baoli Square next to the 85 Degree Bakery. After the
09:00 – 10: 00 registration teams will be sent out at time
intervals beginning at 10:00. Teams will be given the GPS coordinates
to their first checkpoint and will use their own method of
transportation to find the checkpoint; any form of transportation is
permitted (see Rules for complete details). After checking into the
first checkpoint the team will be given the coordinates to the second
checkpoint, and so on until the team reaches the finish.
The
time needed to complete the race will vary according to the speed at
which the team can travel to and find the checkpoints. It is
estimated that between two to five hours will be required to complete
the race. Although this is a race, it is not particularly physically
demanding and designed so that anyone can participate. It is
recommended that participants bring water, sunscreen, pocket money
for snacks, a camera, and good shoes.
An
awards ceremony will take place at Havana Café at the conclusion of
the race and awards will be given to the top three teams in each
category (there are two categories: one is for adults and the other
is a mixed team of adults and children).
Any questions can be
directed to wuxilife@gmail.com or ask Niels or Fred at Havana Café.
We
hope to see you out for a great day of fun!
